Rough seas surround me and safe harbors fade on the horizon ...

Lord, help me live according to your plan today. Help me drive cautiously, patiently and courteously. Help me be successful in my work today and bring me safely back home. I pray for my brothers and sister and their families. Keep them safe and help me be a fruitful witness in their lives. I pray for my team mates. Help us work well together and help me be of service to them. I pray for those You have placed above me. Help them execute their responsibilities according to Your Will and Purpose. I pray for my friends and those who hate me. Teach us to live in harmony and help us open our hearts, so that Your Love can enter us. Open our eyes, that we may understand how much You Love us. I ask all of this in Jesus' name. Amen |
To my friend Michael Michael, In these trying times I remember the gentleness of your spirit which I recognized during the talks we had at some of the retreats we attended - Stone Mountain & Sandestin. While our philosophies did not exactly agree, our attitudes toward the beauty of Life appeared to be in sync. As you may be going through especially difficult times I am reminded of my own experiences as I went through, what I sometimes refer to as 'a valley of darkness'. Without going into too much detail, I just wanted to share with you the tremendous and wonderful results I gleaned from 'throwing the net out on the other side of the boat'. When the situations in my life appeared to give me no other choice then to 'give up' or to take the plunge and give the religion of my parents, which I had rejected for 30 years, one more chance, my life completely changed! What I discovered during my 'recovery' is that in many cases the way many people practice their 'religion' has absolutely nothing to do with God! When I was able to separate God (or intelligent Creator) from 'religion' all my former aversion disappeared and through reading and studying discovered who God really is. And believe me Michael, He is real and He is wonderful! your friend John. / 16 June 2001 |
